DPL Round up06 october 2007 DORSET PREMIER FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORTS 06-10-07
BLANDFORD UNITED 0 WINCANTON TOWN 5 Wincanton Town moved out of the bottom two with their second League win when they defeated their hosts Blandford United 5-0. Jon Vance put the visitors in front after 24 minutes and the Town were two up three minutes later with a strike from Jamie Barber and same player made it 3-0 after 58 minutes. Wincaton made the three points safe with a goal from Levi Nicholles six minutes from time and for good measure scored a fifth right on time through Steve Devlin.This victory moves the new boys up to 11th place. The Royals are still searching for their first League win and are now five points adrift at the foot of the table.
BRIDPORT RERSERVES 0 PORTLAND UNITED 1 Portland United moved into pole position following their single goal win at Bridport with the all important goal coming in the 89th minute through Adam Linaker. This gives the Islanders their sixth League victory and they head the table by a point. The Bees slip down to 12th place as a result of their 4th defeat.
HOLT UNITED 6 HAMWORTHY UNITED RESERVES 2 After suffering defeat in the cup last week Holt United bounced back to winning form when they beat their visitors from Hamworthy United 6-2. Darren Facer put Holt in front on the half hour and just before the break Dave Sturgess made it two nil. The Hammers fought back and reduced the arrears with a goal from Jon Kimble and then the Hamworthy new signing Darrell Williams brought the score level. In the last 20 minutes it was all Holt as they ran in a further four goals through Darren Facer with three more in the 71st,73rd and 81 minutes and one from Dave Perry. Holt after this win move up into third place. This was the hammers 4th defeat and they slip down to 9th place.
STURMINSTER MARSHALL 4 SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON 4 Sturminster Marshall and Swanage shared eight goals and the points at Churchill Close. Sturminster 2-0 up at one stage had to score a late goal to get a share of the points. Ross Humphry put Sturminster two up and then allowed the Swans to go 3-2 up before an own goal brought the scores level only for the Swanage to go in front with only a few minutes left but in that few minute Sturminsters Mark Jackson earned his side a point. Only securing a point Sturminster slip to 8th place while the Swans slip into the bottom two.
STURMINSTER NEWTON 0 WESTLAND SPORTS 3 Westland Sports stay in fifth place following their 3-0 win at Sturminster Newton with their goals coming from an own goal in the first minute, Ian Harris in the 75th minute and Mike Rousell in the 87th minute. This was the Sports 4th League win while Sturminster were tasting defeat for the third time but they remain in 7th place.

POOLE BOROUGH 1 HAMWORTHY RECREATION 5 Hamworthy Recreation following their victory over their hosts Poole Borough have earned themselves an home tie with Blandford United in round two of the competition. Hamworthy Recreation got into their stride early on and took the lead in the 18th minute with a strike by Dan Manual, they then doubled their lead in the 27th minute with a goal from Chris Rigler. Recreation made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute through Simon Bret, and put the game out of the Hornets reach with a fourth goal in the 77th minute from Mike Notley. Poole Borough reduced the arrears in the 81st minute when Jamie Holland found the net only for Hamworthy to have the final word with a second goal from Chris Rigler right on time.
CRANBORNE 2 COBHAM SPORTS 2 Cranborne and Cobham Sports have to play again after they drew 2-2 after extra time. The Sports took the lead midway through the first half with a goal from Scott Hole but before the break the Cranes had pulled level with a goal from James Antell. In the second period the Sports restored their lead through Luke Daws only for Cranborne to hit back and equalize for a second time through Garry Clarke. The game was marred by the sending off of Cranbornes Oliver Hepworth in the second half.

SHEPTON MALLETT 1 GILLINGHAM TOWN 5 The Premier Leagues only representatives Gillingham Town moved into the next round with a good 5-1 win at Shepton Mallet with their goals coming from Loui Herouard, Darren Isaac, Lee Cunningham , Dan Cox and J Delahaye.
